Here is Obama's prepared remark...
"On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes, our sense of patriotism is particularly strong."
But here is what he actually said, apparently ad libbing...
"On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes -- and I see many of them in the audience here today -- our sense of patriotism is particularly strong."
This has been written off as gaffe, but why did he acknowledge people in the audience when specifically talking about who we honor on Memorial Day?
It's clear Obama doesn't know why Memorial Day is observed -to remember and honor men and women that perished in military service to the country.
He doesn't understand the difference between Memorial Day and Veteran's Day, which is to honor all military veterans.
There is no other explanation for his deliberately straying from prepared remarks to acknowledge audience members when talking about who our nation is honoring on Memorial Day.
This isn't the kind of ignorance we need in a president.
